The Main Motivational Factor That Makes Achieving Success Easy

Here is a success secret that most people don’t realize. For the ultra-successful, those who work what seem like crazy hours, are labeled “workaholics” and the success driven – it is not really about the money. In fact, after a certain level of success, money quickly becomes a secondary concern.

Why? Because if you are solely focused on just making money, you will eventually fall into your comfort zone and stop excelling. There are only so many toys, vacations, homes, cars, jewelry and clothes you can buy.

Here is some food for thought – in 2009 there were only 10,000 people worldwide making over one million dollars a year in actual income. That is less than 0.05% of the entire world population. Billionaires make up 0.0001% of the US Population. Even if you are making just $250,000 a year, you can live a very comfortable lifestyle: Very nice house, luxury car, provide for your family, have a safety net, vacation regularly, kid’s college fund saved, maid, nanny, cook and not have to really watch what you spend on the essentials.

For a business owner making $250K a year is not rocket science if have a high level of expertise in at least one area and have strong business systems in place for your operations, marketing, sales and customer support. At that income level, you can systematize your business completely so you are only working a few hours or even minutes a week personally. Yet only 3% of US tax returns (4 million out of 138 million) claimed more than $200,000 in adjusted growth income (2006).

So if the desire for money is not the main motivational factor for achievement, what causes one person to reach their dreams and an equally talented and intelligent person to fail?

From my personal experience and being able to interact with some of the most successful business minds out there, it really boils down to one major factor:

Passion

While there are other traits entrepreneurs should have to be successful, to even reach a modest income level of $250K a year you have to love what you do more than anything else.

Your work has to fulfill you – emotionally, spiritually and mentally.

You have to be so excited to start your day because you would rather be doing your “job” than sleeping or watching TV.

You have enough passion that when obstacles come up, you don’t give up and you find a way to solve the issue or adapt your approach.

You have enough passion that you figure out how to monetize what you love doing. And most importantly, you feel down to your bones that you are helping others in the process of reaching your goals by sharing your expertise, product or service with them.
